I have just started a new gig as a "Technical Evangelist" for Criteo in Paris, and am so excited about the potential for the company's products that I HAD to share them with my loyal readers.
Criteo has created a very sophisticated recommendation engine that works on affinities, rather than content.
In order to publicize this engine virally (always a great marketing strategy for anything web-based), Criteo has created a widget called the Autoroll, which displays a blogroll on your site of other sites that have a high affinity to yours. Likewise, your site shows up in only the blogrolls of others with similar sites.
This is a great way to get the type visitors YOU want on your site, and show them a list of sites they would actually be interested in visiting.
You can download it at http://widget.criteo.com/, and it only takes two minutes to install. It is configurable as to size and colors, and I have it on my www.tektidbits.com site in the right hand column.
So far, the blogs displayed are highly relevant, and my traffic has gone up.
Criteo also has a great control panel with site stats, so you can measure the impact of this widget as part of your marketing efforts.
I invite all of you who are bloggers as part of your marketing efforts to check it out!
