Startups MUST Establish Presence for Credibility

If you have a new business, don't just assume that customers will flock to buy your better mouse trap. You have to lead them to the cheese.

Establishing a corporate presence is a key part of breaking the credibilty barrier that all new businesses share. If you just focus on your product and neglect the marketing and Marcom efforts, you may end up with lots of product on the shelf with no homes!

How do you do this? First of all, write about your products or services. Establish a blog and explain WHY your products or services are better than others (of course, without overting putting down the competition).

Plug your blog on places like Mybloglog, or on free blog sites like WritingUp.

Next, get the best logo you can afford, and the best site you can afford. Nothing destroys credibility like a poorly done logo or website. Choose a great color palette that conveys the company image you want to portray. Then stick with it throughout all your colateral and company documents.

Create a Powerpoint template that uses your color palette and new logo. Next, create a corporate overview presentation that succinctly illustrates what your companies purpose is and how you will accomplish it.

Having all these steps completed makes you look more credible in the eyes of your potential investors as well as your potential customers.
