This blog watch looks at blog directories where visitors can find hundreds of listing of blogs. Blogcatalog, Bloggingfusion and Blogarama are just three of the many blog directories Internet users can find online. Features and details of each of these three directories are reviewed below. The best way to determine which directory works best for your needs is to test each. BlogcatalogWhen logging onto www.blogcatalog.com, a message displays, “Welcome blog lovers, you are home.” This blog directory not lists blogs from art, business, career, education home and garden and numerous others, the site also is building a blogger community. As part of that focus, the site brings forward a humanitarian site and sends out an email blast to profile the blog. For example, in November the site sent out an email profiling the Bloggers Unite for World AIDS Day. According to blogcatalog, it “is the place for you to connect with other bloggers, become a better blogger, attract more blog readers, participate in group and discussions, find the latest tools for your blog…” Blogcatalog is more extensive and is very easy to use. The screen colors and layout if pleasing and exciting. Plus, the site promotes itself as one of the largest blog directories. Bloggers can also register their blog with the directory. BloggingfusionIf bloggers want to get in on a newer blog directory, they can register their blog with bloggingfusion.com. As of early December 2008, the directory had over 2,500 blog listings. The site also does a ‘Featured Blog of the Week!’ and the site showcases its stats at the bottom left corner of the home page. Users can easily click on tabs for popular, new, and top rated blogs. BlogaramaBlog directory users can join blogarama and login when visiting. Or, non-members can visit and peruse the ‘most cool blogs’. The directory provides a list of the top 100 blogs ranked by readers. The directory lists the blogs in categories such as blog resources, current events and news, for laughs, lifestyle, personal blogs, sports and travel among others. Visitors can also click to view cool, popular and rated sorts for the listings. Blogging Takes OverBlog reading and blog writing are activities that can over a full day of work. Visiting any one or all of these directories could take the most avid blog reader all day to get through.
